In which I make up my own theme and only list nine titles |
2012 is officially the year of the sequel. These are a couple I'm excited about, one of which I've already read,
Hallowed, and another I'm in the progress of reading,
Pandemonium, but that doesn't make them any less exciting as sequels.
- Insurgent by Veronica Roth
- Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
- The Calling by Kelley Armstrong
- Hallowed by Cynthia Hand
- The Blood Keeper by Tessa Gratton
- A Million Suns by Beth Revis
- Fever by Lauren DeStefano
- Rebel Heart by Moira Young
Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins (It counts, right?) Postponed, so this will be on my 2013 list instead :)
And yup, they are all YA because YA seems to love its sequels in a way that the majority of the adult fiction I read (pretty much contemporary) doesn't. There's also a ton of interesting sequels coming out for books I haven't read the earlier novels for, so they've missed out on this list. Honestly, I think one of my goals this year should be to start fewer series! I hate having to wait. Or maybe read some more series that are already complete, that was the nice thing about delving into Westerfeld last year, and I plan to read at least one more series by him this year. There are also a few series I started this year that I'm not sure I will continue, which feels weird or unfinished but if I didn't really love the first book I figure I should cut my losses, especially considering middle books are notorious for their cliffhanger endings.
How do you feel about series? Any sequels you're absurdly excited for this year?
Oh I am really excited about Pandemonium, so jealous you have it in your hot little hands.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for most of these ones, too! :D There's a couple series I haven't started yet though. :) I'm excited for Pandemonium even though I haven't read Delirium yet, too! haha Oh, and Isla got pushed back to 2013 now. I just found out a little while ago. Stephanie had a blog post about it, and how she overworked herself and started to hate writing...so I'm happy waiting for it because I want plenty more books from her in the future. lol :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for Insurgent and The Calling though...so so so excited! And I picked up A Million Suns at the bookstore yesterday, so I can start it soon...hopefully. :P lol
One that I'm super excited for is The Rise of Nine...it's the 3rd book in the Lorien Legacy series, and I just can't wait for it! :D
Awesome list, Zoƫ! :D
